Prevention Leaders Masterclass

Stop managing. Start leading.

A six-month leadership program for prevention professionals. Twelve live sessions, a small cohort, and two facilitators who've done the work.

Now accepting applications for the next cohort

The application takes about five minutes. No obligation.

Dave Closson and Angie Asa-Lovstad, Prevention Leaders Masterclass facilitators

Most prevention leaders were never taught to lead.

Prevention work is tough. Many leaders get stuck managing: assigning tasks, putting out fires, and pushing the work forward alone. The result?

Teams that lack energy or buy-in
Leaders who feel burned out and isolated
Communities that miss the full impact prevention can bring

It doesn't have to be this way.

“I came into PLM tired and I'm leaving empowered.”

Jessica Howard, Missouri Advanced Prevention Specialist, Director of Substance Use Prevention Services, FCC Behavioral Health

Three segments. One complete way to lead.

Each segment builds on the last.

1

Understand Yourself.

Before you can lead others, you need clarity on who you are. Through assessments, reflection, and coaching you'll uncover your strengths and blind spots and learn to show up authentically.

When you know yourself, you lead with confidence instead of second-guessing.

2

Understand Others.

Leadership isn't telling people what to do. It's inspiring them to move with you. You'll build trust, listen deeply, and use facilitation and coaching techniques to engage your team and community.

When you understand others, you create buy-in instead of pushback.

3

Become a Change Maker.

This is where it comes together. You'll apply practical tools and facilitation methods to lead real change in your coalition, organization, or community.

When you lead change effectively, prevention becomes stronger together.

This is for you if you've ever thought...

“I want to inspire, not just manage.”
“I need tools to build buy-in and reduce resistance.”
“I'm ready to grow as a leader, but I don't want to do it alone.”

Built for prevention professionals at every level, from brand-new coordinators to seasoned state leaders. No prior leadership training needed.

What you'll walk away with

  • A clear understanding of your leadership identity and how to use it
  • The ability to facilitate conversations that build trust, collaboration, and buy-in
  • A toolbox of strategies and templates you can use immediately
  • A network of peers walking the same path
  • Confidence leading your team and community through change
